For job-seekers, career guides are an indispensable resource for finding employment. These guides can be used to find a position that sufficiently matches your specific skills. As well, it gives you a good overview of the wide range of jobs available in your field.

To get the most out of a career guide, you should use it to locate where relevant jobs are located. This can let you know if you need to move or if jobs are available in your area. If there are no jobs in your area, but you are not willing to move, then it may be time for a career change.

As well, you can gather information from a career guide on what traits and achievements you will already need in order to land the job. If you have a bachelor’s degree, then it may be useless heading down a career path that requires a PhD at the next stop. Knowing what qualifications are necessary will allow you to tailor your efforts toward getting your dream job.

Most important to some, a career guide provides information on how much money you will be making. If you plan on being the breadwinner in a family of six, then salary information is vital. While there is much more to a job then how much money you make, the pay must be enough to provide for yourself and your family.

Keep in mind, an important aspect of finding a job is identifying the hot niches. If you qualify, these niches are where you will have the most luck trying to find employment. As well, fields with an abundance of job listings are another place to put your effort toward. Job openings are a sign that the field will be expanding. You want to avoid setting your aim on a job in a dying industry.

While career guides are fabulous resources, they are not the only source of information. Ultimately, what is a good job to one person is a bad job to another. Personality largely affects your ability to be satisfied. Therefore, it is wise to do this self-reflection first. After you have a firm grasp of what types of careers would satisfy you for years, then proceed to find related hot job opportunities as described above.

We humans periodically stop and take stock of many parts of our lives – and one that frequently gets reevaluated is our career (or, if we’re not lucky, our job). Most of us spend a huge portion of our waking hours at work yet haven’t given what we do much thought since we landed our first jobs.

And, if you have held the same job since graduation, you may be living out the dream of your 18 or 21 year old self. I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t trust my career to the decisions of even the world’s best teenager.

There are many ways at looking at work or careers, there is the old way exemplified by T.S. Eliot who said “For us, there is only the trying. The rest is not our business.” A more modern take on the subject comes from Timothy Ferris’ book “The 4-Hour Workweek” where he says “I won’t ask you to choose between enjoyment today and money later. I believe you can have both now. The goal is fun and profit.”

You need to decide whether you want to live your life according to T.S, Eliot or Timothy Ferris. I know what I would choose.

If you think you may be in a job or career that is not the one best suited to the life you want to live, rate your current position based on the following criteria, using a scale of one to ten (lowest to highest). 1 is absolutely terrible and 10 is perfect – and the job doesn’t exist that gets all 10′s.

1. What opportunities do I have for growth?

2. What opportunities are there for the day-to-day challenges that I cherish?

3. How much opportunity do I have to interact with others, do long range or strategic planning, write, think, get out in the field, or do whatever else it is that turns me on?

4. Is the corporate culture one that I am comfortable with?

Your answers to these questions will give you some telling insight into which of the following applies to you:

o You can probably use negotiating techniques to make your current position meet all your criteria without making a move.

o You’re probably very unhappy where you are and should be putting out feelers shortly so you can make a move within a short time.

o You should begin to consider your options. Unless you can make major changes where you are you probably won’t ever be satisfied there.

o Now is the time to make a move – you’re committing career suicide!

Many wonder what the difference is between a job and a career. Some would say that they are basically the same thing; after all, they are both venues in which a person generates an income. However, while a job is something an individual does to earn money it rarely involves any type of planning. One can apply for a job at a burger joint but few would consider that to truly be a career. When it comes to a career, there is typically an amount of groundwork or education. It more or less expresses the true skills of an individual; whereas a job tends to be a one size fits all income producer.

To prepare for a career, one will generally need to obtain a degree or special certification. This can be accomplished by attending a college or vocational school. Depending on the line of work, one may prepare for a year or seven years getting the right training. Those who opt for a certain vocation often tend to have firm goals in life they wish to make a reality. They may have a certain type of life or lifestyle they wish to lead that a simple job cannot provide. They can also have very strong abilities and talents that are unique and cannot be utilized anywhere other than in a specific career.

Once an individual launches into his or her career, they can be required to devote a certain amount of time honing their skills to solidify their profession. They may attend courses or seminars to further enhance their expertise or knowledge. Some professions require learning new systems or procedures from time to time. This can increase not only skill level but prestige and even earning power. While a job can provide the occasional training and raise, there may or may not be room for advancement. Even if there is, jobs rarely concern themselves with whether or not the individual’s best skills are being utilized.

While it is easy to achieve the goal of bringing in an income, those who have a career accomplish this by doing what suits them best. It is no secret that when individual skills are recognized and put to use, people tend to love their occupation much more. They are more likely to refer to it as their livelihood and identify who they are with what they do. Those with jobs tend to become less satisfied over time because their true gifts and abilities are not being utilized. These are the individuals who end up chucking their jobs in order to go out and train for a career.

Today’s work environment can be extremely stressful. WillYouRelax.com can help you to find ways to de-stress and relax. Improve the quality of your life and learn to let go!
Stress Relief is only a click away!

It always amazes me how job hunters fall into the same old traps that can damage their campaign work. You should avoid these fundamental mistakes that can sabotage your job search campaign, jobs in, .1. Writing, jobs in, a resume no one wants to read! Your CV can not focus on you and your past! The employers must show how you can make a difference for them to go forward.

They could care less about your career goals and job objectives, jobs in, . If your work history, for, jobs in, that matter. UNLESS you can show them how it affects, jobs in, their bottom line. And remember, employers buy YOU. . . not your, jobs in, CV! Your CV should be used as a business card after you meet someone.

2. Wasting your time on jobs advertised. If you have a long and painful job search campaign, keep answering ads, jobs in, and visiting agencies. Why? Remember competition? You're taking you right in the, jobs in, middle, jobs in, of it where everyone is.Now I'm not saying that you can eventually get a job this way.

But if you want a substantial MOVE and do it FAST, this is certainly not the way to go.3. Shot Gunning, jobs in, your CV. The theory goes something like this: if I throw enough paper in the market,, jobs in, the law of averages has to work for me. At some point, jobs in, someone will want me.

WRONG! The only law at, jobs in, work here is that the printing and post office and job search websites rich.Don go to waste "time you get to send a resume if it does not, jobs in, specifically addressed. Wide distribution of your resume is the least productive way to look at a job.

4. Non follow-up. Do not even bother with a job search campaign web site if you do not plan to follow up personally – by phone and mail. It's that old thing again. You, jobs in, competition, jobs in, to get your foot in the door first, jobs in, . And do not expect an interview to lead to nothing if you do not follow up the phone and letter.

5. Waiting for the phone to ring. Is there anything worse than waiting nervously for someone important to you to call back. . . especially if you think they should? If your attitude is:, jobs in, "I have great credentials, great experience, an excellent work, jobs in, history was .

.. so here I am – come get me!". . . you are, jobs in, in for a long, long search for a job. You have to take the initiative. Pick up the phone and find out what happening.6. Interviewing like a wimp. Look, you only get one shot at the person, jobs in, could be your next boss.

Better to look like a pro. That means: be prepared. . . be practiced. . . assertive. If you are not, jobs in, in control, jobs, jobs in, in, of the interview process'RE OUT! This is a good time to re-evaluate your job campaign. And make a course correction and together a new plan that the major pitfalls to avoid.

In recent weeks several of my clients have asked my help in finding them a new job. They each have different reasons for wanting to change jobs. Some want more money. Some are not comfortable with the financial, how to job, health of their current employer. And, I have a client and a recent entry, how to job, "outplaced", how to job, client only need to work.

Finding a job is not necessarily that hard, but finding the right job has to be a plan. There, how to job, was a time in the recent past, when people simply would resume hunting rifle or respond to every job she saw. This method does work, but it is much more painful in terms of time, and success.

If you think about it, you hit the right company at the right time looking for your credentials. Bet you seem a bit disappointing. So, it is best to make a plan, and your work plan, how to job, .The first rule of thumb that people should know the job search is that, if not scientifically, you can expect to spend approximately $ 10,000 per months of salary on the hunt for that new job.

If you have a quick calculation,, how to job, that means it would take approximately 6 months of job searching, sending resumes, and interviewing, how to job, with a $ 60,000 job. That is quite long, so it is important that you organized, how to job, .

The reason is that more competition for these jobs, and as sales, you must find work to fill pipe line. It takes a while for companies and recruiters to know that your labor and for them to receive and filter the hundreds if not thousands of resumes they receive.Second, depending on the status of your current job, looking for a job can be a full-time, how to job, job.

If you are currently employed, you can look in part by searching job, how to job, boards, answering ads, and networking, etc. You can work with some of the recruiters in your industry, but operate with more than two or three . Since you are employed, you can take the time to find a specific job by focusing your business, certain companies and certain geographic areas.

If you do not work, then you can search for a job as full-time job to handle. Every day you wake up early enough to find your work at 8:30 in the morning start. You've, how to job, showered, shaved (if you're male), and dress in clothing, no sweats or pajamas.

You have to work your job search to eight hours a day. You would, how to job, work plan. Example 8:30 to 9:30, the work of the job boards. From 9:30 to 10:30 you should check all of the HR-specific sites of your business. From 10:30 to noon you, how to job, have time to follow up all your prospects, how to job, .

After lunch, phone and e-mail all your friends to follow up all leads they have. Ask them to contact their colleagues, how to job, and their HR department, how to job, . Many times a company can have an, how to job, opening, but knows of an opening at another company.

Applies to any job that even close, how to job, to what you want, and go on interviews. You can practice interviewing by going on interviews for jobs that do not necessarily want. You need to keep your, how to job, mind active, your attitude positive and healthy, and stay connected to the market.

Make sure you are happy with everyone you speak with. Nobody wants to hear how bad it is or your calls will go unanswered and returned.Networking is probably not the best way to find a job. Actually telling that means that every person who could help you are looking for work. Often a boy is a guy who knows a girl that rent, you can interview a recruiter does, how to job, not know which one.

I can not stress, how to job, enough the value of networks. Working people know where the opportunities are and hear them first, so make sure your network of friends and colleagues that you know their help.Keep your current CV. Do not, how to job, wait until the last moment to throw together, how to job, .

You will also how quickly your responsibilities change every six months surprised, how to job, . For example, you learned a new computer, you participate in the training, you were part of a committee that developed a new process? Stop and smell the roses to see what you have achieved since you last updated your resume.

Read my other articles on formatting your resume for tips. And do not be afraid to use a professional to write it. I have links to several reasonably priced professionals familiar site.Work this job on my web boards and forums. They're great for finding opportunities. Keep your resume sent to whom and follow-up.

Use the free boards first monster.com, but do not be afraid to pay for one or two sites like TheLadders.com. They are not that expensive and full of great advice well. And, do not be, how to job, afraid to tell your friends you are looking for work to tell. Not employees, but outside friends. We all want to help,, how to job, but can not
