Getting A New Job – Where and How?

Files under job | Comments Off

Sometimes we need a fresh start in life and a new job. Perhaps we are not happy with our lives or the way things are going at work and after a few years we have decided that it is better to go and find another place to work. We haven’t come lightly to this decision. Of course the other scenario is that we lost our job due to outsourcing. We must find another place to work.

There is lots of sites available e for people to who want to find a job. These job banks may all seem the same but they are really different. Some are general job banks while others are catered to particular industries. It is up to you to decide which ones you are going to use and why you are going to use them.

Career Builder: One of the largest directories available. Some of the jobs are good but an increasing amount of them are commission jobs or scam jobs. This is reducing Career Builders prior dominance.

Hot Jobs: Hot jobs was also a descent website that slowly declined as more scam and commission jobs took hold. This creates a significant problem for people who want legitimate jobs.

Career Journal: Career Journal is one of the better sites available. It is geared towards educated professionals who desire and want good jobs. Their selection is somewhat limited in certain career paths.

Nation Jobs: Nation Jobs has a few good jobs to apply to. They are a little limited in the amount of jobs that are offered but overall it is a good site to check out.

Online Application Tips:

Applying online can be both easy and useless if done improperly. The very nature of many job boards makes applying for open positions easy but these cookie cutter approaches mean that the resume on the site is a general resume. Sometimes it makes sense to cater your resume and cover letter to their particular job need.

It is also possible that many of these sites will redirect you to the company’s personal site. This can create a lot of work trying to fill out each sites individual application requirements. In the past you would print resumes and send them in the mail. Now you must spend at times up to a half hour on each application.

Remember that convenience isn’t always a good thing if it means that you have watered down your chances of getting the job you want. Avoid the desire to take the easy way out and prefer to cater as much as possible. If you address people by their formal name, rewrite the first paragraph and keep your resume simple to read you will do just fine.

Sometimes you may also do your own research by saving the email address that you sent and send a follow up email in a couple of weeks. This will show that you are truly interested in the position and may prompt the hiring manager to take a second look at your resume. Diligence may mean success.

Unsecured Cash Loans – Offer Fast Cash Without Asset Pledging

Files under cash | Comments Off

Short term funding is often utilised to help individuals who are in need of varying sums of money for a limited short period. Many of the lending companies usually provide for unsecured cash loans, and also stipulate the maximum amount of money that can be borrowed under such a circumstance. You can access such lending options through online or offline, though online has precedence over.

Typically these cash loans are due within the period of two weeks. Taking the circumstances of the borrower into consideration however, some cash advance companies would expect that at least half the loan amount should be repaid in two weeks, and the balance in a month.

When a prospective borrower of a cash loan does not offer any collateral to secure the loan amount, he automatically becomes a high risk for the lender. Therefore the short-term personal loan is usually offered at a higher rate of interest and on stricter loan terms than if offered to a borrower who has a better credit record.

Usually you do not require collateral to place. You disburse the amount on the very day of your applying for the loan. And you avail the benefits of the raised money till your pay day. There are many companies working in this direction. Though online financial companies require a little of your credit check and lend the small amount you need.

Generally, amount sanctioned to the borrowers for such short-term money provisions is £200. Though, if you feel it insufficient, you can send a request for more money to your creditor. Seeing your cash crisis, your lender is able to increase the amount up to £1,200. You invest the raised money as per your day-to-day expenses. Car repairing, children’s tuition fees, home improvement, funeral, birthday party celebration etc., are some of the generally usages of unsecured cash loans.

Company Cutbacks – Ten Ways to Tell If Your Job is on the Termination List

Files under job | Comments Off

In these times of a stumbling economy, many companies are whittling down their workforce. Workers are fearful that their jobs will be the next to be eliminated. Uncertainty stems from fear and productivity begins to decline. Job security of the pre 1990′s no longer exists, and workers are feeling the strain of not knowing from day to day if they have a job.

After being laid off from her previous job, Rhynie chose to go back to college and earn her degree. She didn’t work while she was in school, preferring to concentrate on her studies and graduate with a high GPA. Four years later and three months after graduation, Rhynie was hired as a bookkeeper for a jewelry store. She was also responsible for doing the payroll for the store’s seven employees. She had not performed this type of work and the pay was lower than she expected, but she had the education and learned the job basics in a timely manner. She was enthusiastic and was just beginning to feel comfortable in her new job when she was told that her position was being eliminated. She had been employed at the company for 37 days.

She was assured by the owner of the store that her work performance wasn’t the reason that she was being terminated. He said that she was doing very well in her job, but he had hired a sales person that could sell jewelry and could also perform the bookkeeping and payroll functions that he had hired her to do. He further explained that he couldn’t afford to keep both of them on the payroll so she was the one that had been chosen to be terminated. Since Rhynie lives in an at-will work state, she has no recourse, and she wasn’t employed long enough to collect unemployment benefits.

Rhynie was happily humming along in her job when she received the devastating news. She had no indication that anything was wrong, or that she was going to be let go. Her superior explained that her working effectiveness was within the company standards and expectations.

Thinking back, Rhynie realized that the signs that her job was in danger were there; since she had no reason to believe that she wasn’t doing her job to or above the expectations of her employer, she didn’t notice the subtle change in atmosphere, or the signs that something was amiss.

Here are ten indications that your job is on the chopping block:

Your boss stops talking about future assignments and projects
Things that are normally your duties your superior begins shrugging off
There is a change in attitude toward you from your boss and co-workers
Others in the company are cool toward you
Conversation stops when you walk by or enter the room
Your work is being assigned to someone else
Your boss or a co-worker has taken over some of the tasks that you normally do
Your boss dismisses your tasks that were formerly important to him
Co-workers won’t look you in the eye, and avoid talking to you unless it’s absolutely necessary
You aren’t encouraged to make your workspace comfortable and attractive

For Rhynie, the ramifications of being terminated were a low self-image and a doubt about her own abilities to hold onto a job. Even though her boss explained the reason for the cutback, he made her last day the day he informed her of the cut which was in the middle of the week, and he didn’t let her finish out the work day. She left with some negative feelings toward her former boss. He indicated to her that he had known for two weeks that he was going to let her go, but he willfully neglected to give her any notice so that she could look for a new position. To make matters worse, she had known her boss for a number of years prior to being hired at his company, and she took her layoff personally.

Some employers give blatant indications that jobs are going to be cut; others give subtle signals. By knowing the signs that your job is in jeopardy, you can avoid being surprised with an unexpected termination notice. These ten signs are not inclusive, but they are the most evident warning that something is about to happen.

Job Resumes

Files under job | Comments Off

A job resume is a simple snapshot of you for employers to see how you performed in past positions. From this they will form an opinion of what you can bring to their companies and thus call you in for an interview, where they will discuss your resume in greater detail. A resume needs to be short and concise. A typical resume is no more than 2 pages in length. It gives brief details of your educational background and work experience, but it is the way you word these details that will make the employers take notice.

A job resume is a formal document that should show your professionalism. Therefore, it is important not to try to jazz up the document with fancy borders or font. This will not impress the person reading the resume because it will detract from what you write on the page. If you have to send in a job resume and application through the mail or submit it in person, you can use professional resume paper. However, most resumes are submitted electronically, in which case there is no need to buy any paper.

When writing your resume, use bullets to give details about positions and qualifications. Make sure you highlight the ones that are most pertinent to the position for which you are submitting an application. Above all, make sure you don’t make any false statements on the job resume by saying you can do something or have done something that you haven’t. Employers do check out references and ask about your past performance. You could be jeopardizing your dream job by including false statements in your job resume.

While you may have skills that require a lot of explanation, try to be as concise as possible. Do not write in narrative form when you write a resume and avoid using the first or third person. Instead of writing “It was my job to keep track of inventory”, use a subheading with a noun as a descriptor of the position, such as “Inventory Control”. This will get the employer’s attention more quickly.

You do have to remember that employers receive hundreds of job resumes and don’t have time to read lengthy documents detailing what you did or did not do. If the employer likes the details of your resume, you will be called for an interview. Here you can provide more details and give examples of your experience and skills.

Job Interview Tips That Lead to Job Offers

Files under job | Comments Off

Going on a job interview while looking for work is stressful. The most anxiety inducing part of all this, as all will agree is the job interview. You may well be anxious in advance of an interview, which may lead to you being nervous during the interview – and this of course can end up causing you to do poorly in the job interview. Doing well in these situations depends to a large extent on being well prepared for the interview. A job interview is what employers use to gauge how good of a fit you would be for the job – even more so than your resume. During a job interview you will be asked specific questions about how you would handle the job and failing to be prepared for this could be disastrous.

Getting ready for an interview is something that both you and your interviewer will be doing. Your interviewer will choose questions based on your previous work experience as a sort of test (and an interview is nothing if not a test) of how you would perform if given this position. You need to convince your interviewer that choosing you for the position will add to their record of success with the company in question. Try to be prepared for the tough and tricky questions which will be asked during the job interview.

There are a few questions that you can expect to be asked in any job interview. These include why are you interested in this position? Why do you want to work at this company? What are you making now? Other than these three, you will most likely be asked about your relevant skills and experience as well as what your expectations are for this position. Try to make your answers as detailed as possible and answer truthfully.

It is imperative that you have some answers to give for these questions – it is even more important that you be able to give examples from your personal experience to illustrate these answers. You can use these anecdotes to build a rapport with your interviewer, which is very important in trying to land that job.

Have all of your materials and documents with you when you walk into a job interview. Be sure to have at least two copies of your most recent CV/resume, a few references (two or three) and if applicable to the position you are applying for, work samples or a portfolio. Remember that your task in a job interview is to present a case to the interviewer that you are the perfect candidate for this job.

A very important thing to prepare for a job interviewer is a few company-specific questions for your interviewer. Asking these questions will work for you by demonstrating that you have put some thought into this position and are serious about this job and this company. Your interviewer will take note of this.

Make sure to look professional for a job interview. Dress professionally, but keep a relaxed manner about you. The most important thing is to project confidence; this is likely to make you memorable to your interviewer.

In Closing

In short, to do well in a job interview you need to do three things. Learn about the company and position so you can appear interested and knowledgeable, prepare your documents and examples from your experience and display confidence and charisma. If you can do all three of these things, you are certain to do well in a job interview.

Job Interview Questions and Answers

Files under job | Comments Off

Going to a job interview can be one of the scariest and most intimidating things one does in their life. There is much tension and fear, but surprisingly it can be much fun. If you play your cards correctly, the job interview questions and answers game can be used much to your advantage and he process will not need to be as lopsided as you might think.

In order to get in front of a potential employer to address the job interview questions and answers, you must first have a job interview in place. There are many types of job interviews and just because one is scheduled does not mean you have the job secured. The interview process in many cases can be incredibly lengthy and one that may take a long time for a decision to be made. The questions and answers exchanged in an interview can vary based on the type of interview.

Since not all jobs and organizations are the same, every interview process can be different. Some companies might want to conduct a behavior interview where they want to see how the interviewee reacts in certain scenarios. Some companies might conduct their interviews as a group. There are some companies that would prefer to host a video interview in case they need to fly you in from an out of town location and they want to screen you before they take on the cost.

With different types of interviews, comes different job interview questions and answers. Questions the interviewer might ask you but also questions you might want to ask the interviewer. Many employers think positively of potential candidates that show high levels of interaction in their interview. By asking the right questions, you are proving you have an interest in the company, you are thinking about the future of the company and you are the type of person the employer would look for.

Here is a sample list of the most asked questions by an interviewer with sample responses:

Q: Describe a typical work week for you?

A: Make sure to discuss in detail and be prepared to review some of our day-today responsibilities. Make sure to relate your answers to the job you are applying for. The more you can show a connection between the job you are applying for and your past, the more open the interviewer will be to discussing further with you.

Q:What motivates you?

A: Since the interviewer doesn’t know much about you, they want to know how and why you were successful at your previous job. Since your response will vary based on your previous experience and knowledge, you can include the following factors as motivation:

You enjoy Challenges

Employer satisfaction is very important

Client satisfaction is most important

Compensation to perform (if in a sales role)

Team accomplishments (if it is a team based environment)

Q: What interests you about this job?

A: Be truthful. Describe the qualifications needed for the job. Tie the job description back to your own skill set and explain why you would thrive in this position because of your previous experience. If the job seems like a challenge, explain you are looking to learn and improve your skills. Regardless of the situation, be excited about the opportunity and how you can bring value to the organization.

Here is a sample list of Questions you should ask the interviewer (Make sure to take notes and pay attention throughout the interview so you do not ask a question that was already answered):

How would you describe the responsibilities of the position?

How would you describe a typical week/day in the position?

Is this a new position? If not, what did the previous employee go on to do?

What is the style of management within the company?

Who does this position report to? If I am offered the position, can I meet him/her?

How many people work in this office/department? How many people are in the company

What are the prospects for growth and advancement?

How does one advance in the company?

Overall the entire Job Interview Questions and Answers process is not terribly difficult, as long as you are prepared. Make sure to do your homework!!
